Leather Jackets
Many riders confuse style leather jackets with motorcycle leather jackets. Both jackets
may look the same but they will differ in weight. Motorcycle leather jackets are much
heavier then the regular casual leather jackets. It is heavier because of the extra body
armor and extra leather thats put in to the jacket for protection. Casual leather jackets
do not offer that, in fact they are the exact opposite. Casual leather jackets are as much
as 2X lighter than motorcycle jackets. There is a big difference in weight between the 2
because casual jackets do not need the extra leather and body armor that motorcycle
jackets need. In an accident, a casual jacket will shred instantly because it is not made
to be impact proof, it is made mainly for style and comfort. Motorcycle jackets however,
have the proper body armor and proper stitching which gives a rider more protection.
Regular motorcycle leather jackets start at about $250 and can be more expensive depending
on the namebrand and features.
Motorcycle jackets are not cut and stitched the same way as a normal leather jacket. A
motorcycle jacket is pre-stitched for a rider to be very comfortable in a leaning
position. The arm length on a motorcycle jacket can be a bit longer than a normal jacket
because on a ride position, a riders arm will extend to reach the throttle.
